Breaking Bad & Colour (Video)
The reputation and the story of Breaking Bad are familiar by now. The show that follows Walter White’s transformation from “Mr. Chips to Scarface” and the ripple effect of his actions has earned a fair amount of acclaim and analysis. The latter, which are often attentive to the meaning behind series trademarks, are deep-dives that cover devices like the significance of swimming pools to the relevance of time-lapses. Also noted is the tenor connecting colour theory to character principles and motivation. Most of these stem from the costume design, (Kathleen Detoro for seasons one through four, and Jennifer Bryan for the fifth), though on occasion, a colour will completely saturate the frame. In honour of this unsung trait that evolves as deeply as the characters, enjoy the following edit of the colour in Breaking Bad.
